Spinning LithoLamp

The Spinning LithoLamp is a 3D-printed lamp that holds five photos and offers 360° rotation. Each photo is converted into a lithophane—a thin 3D relief whose varying thickness recreates the original image in striking greyscale when illuminated from behind by a light source.

Designed as a personal project to feel like a high-end product, the lamp’s lightweight printed shell is counter-weighted by a sand-filled base for added stability when switching it on or off. The base incorporates a three-part bearing packed with dozens of 6 mm spheres, only allowing rotational movement. Future iterations will accommodate a 6807RS bearing for even smoother movement.
